First time installing an AIO..

So I have all the parts for my computer build. It's all together minus power connectors and all the case connectors. I'm having trouble installing the AIO, though. Installed the backplate on the motherboard, the Intel clips, put on some Arctic MX-4 thermal paste and attached it. However, what the manual shows for connectors and what's there.. there's a lot more connectors.

I typed the below and then it made some sense to me.. lemme see if I am correct:

It's 360mm so 3 fans 120mm each. They came all daisy chained together and a 4 pin connector on the end. I'm guessing that's for power, so I'm guessing they can all be powered by one connector on the motherboard?

But then each fan has more connectors on them.. 3 more each.. I don't think I need VDG cable.. but there is what I think a 3 pin RGB cable for lighting.. and another one.. one female, one male.. do I daisy chain them all together also and hook them to one connector on the motherboard as well? Because I only see two motherboard spots that says RGB LED on them. The second one can then attach to the water cooling block, because it lights up also.

The block on the CPU has a 3 pin connector, I guess that goes to CPU FAN1 on motherboard for power, but does anyone know what a large flat connector on the CPU block is? Is that a SATA connector maybe for power? So do I need both that and the CPU FAN1 connector I guess?

Not all motherboards have both, some have only one of the type, some have neither. They are not compatible with each due to the different voltage. Do not try and connect ARGB to RGB as you will damaged the LEDS.
You can buy convertors/adapters that let you plug ARGB fans into RGB connector I have done this before (or vice versa).

Just make sure you know which you are dealing with first. Sounds like your motherboard needs to have an ARGB connector for your ARGB fans if you want pretty lights.

Yes

The SATA connector usually powers the pump and the CPU fan connector is just there for monitoring and for the motherboard to know there is something cooling the CPU. You can set in the BIOS an alarm (enable/disable) that warns when the CPU fan registers 0 RPM, ie it stops working and can send out an audio alarm. It can also be to monitor the RPM.

Thanks for answering she started up fine last night. Well I shouldn't say fine I had a video card error which I resolved. The only thing I don't like is those ARGB plugs to the motherboard are loose I think that is a bad design whoever came up with that connector.

I lost track of time trying to find a USB drive to put Windows install on so it got to be 1:00 in the morning and I had to go to bed. Tonight is when I will put a real test on her play a game render some video check my hard drive speed etc.

Tell me about it. I`m not that bothered about RGB stuff but I thought I should use it. I just bought a new case and a 360 AIO for my GPU and I accidentally bent the pins on the ARGB socket. Took me ages to line then up right because it doesnt have a "guide" for the plug.

Plug goes in and out easily enough. I don't even want light honestly, but don't mind having some kind of lighting effect in the day. It's just a hassle. Supposedly when I sign out of Windows or log off, ASRock motherboard has a BIOS option to turn the lights off. Doesn't work for me. Also, to turn the light off on my AMD video card I have to fish my fingers under the fan and unplug it. I didn't feel like doing it.

At night when I forget to shut the light off, feels like that episode of Seinfeld where they open a Kenny Rogers Roasters outside of Kramers apartment building and the neon sign is projecting red neon light everywhere.

If lights stay on when pc is off
Couple things I found
On my Gigabyte board you had to use enable/disable ERP
In the bios which works but means you can't use
Usb ports to charge stuff when pc is off

On my asus board even though there's an option in the bios
To turn leds off if pc is sleeping,hibernating, turned off
The asus windows software actually over rides the bios stupidly
Eventually in the software I found an option called
Shutdown effect
Setting that to off finally did the trick

Not sure if any of those will work with Aslockton
But worth looking at
