Hi im new to the forums and also to overclocking.

Recently purchased a new rig from the fine chaps at OCUK.

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit Edition
Corsair HX 620W ATX2.2 Modular SLI Compliant PSU
Antec Nine Hundred Ultimate Gaming Case
Asus P5N32-E PLUS SLi nForce (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Samsung SpinPoint T HD321KJ 320GB SATA-II 16MB Cache
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro CPU Cooler (Socket 775)
Gainward BLISS GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI
Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.40GHz (1066FSB)

Got it all set up fine (had a few problems as gainward did not include a driver cd with 8800 drivers on it  )

Now i have been reading forums for a while on how to OC and thought i would give it a try.

Fired up the Bios
Set Extreme Tweaking to Manual
Set ram timings to 4 4 4 12 2.2v 800MHz. No problems there.
Reduced Multi to 8 and increased QFSB to 1600
Unlinked Ram FSB
Manual Vcore 1.4v

Everything else on Auto for now.

Problem is when i exit and saves changes Bios will not post. Resetting the PC prompts me to load default Bios settings and doing so clocks my E6600 @2.14Ghz...

Is there a step by step guide for my board or am i doing anything totally wrong?

My idle temps @ stock are 19C and Load 24C so i should easy make 3.2Ghz no?

Well first of all unless you're in the Arctic those temps are wrong.

As for it not booting try going for a lower FSB to start with. 334 is usually a good starting point [3GHz].

Have you updated your motherboard to the latest BIOS?

E6600 should be at a 9x multi.

9x266 = 2.4 Ghz no?

Will try @ 334 FSB im assuming that as my Bios asks for QFSB i multiply that by 4 and enter 1336 yes?

Im not in the arctic but my temps are reading that low on NTune and Core temp.

System reads 27C idle in NTune but Tjunction reads 85C in Coretemp are they the same thing?

My 880 idles @44 and hits 52 under load. Have managed to push it to 650Mhz core and 2000Mhz ram and it still only hits 61 under load...

Ok Im beginning to get the hang of this now and getting some more stable results.

Have a few questions though about temps/vcore readings if anyone can help answer...

Currently running @ 3.2Ghz (356Fsb x9 Muti)
Vcore manually set in Bios to 1.5v as it would not post with anything less. However when i check the voltages in bios its only reading 1.42v Ntune reckons 1.45v and CPUz seems to think its 1.28v. Changing voltage in bios to auto gives me the same results.

Temps are idle @ 24C hitting 51C under load which isnt too bad. I figured it would hit more @1.5vcore after reading through the forums but then im not even sure it is a 1.5vcore...

Also running my GTS @620/900 and it idles @47C and hits 61C under load. Is this a bit hot or will it quite happily carry on like that?

I know these are some fairly noob questions but i have been unable to find any posts regarding OC'ing on a p5n32-e SLi Plus only the non plus version so dont know if im going in the right direction or not.

I have the same CPU as you though mine has a Zalman 9700 CPU cooler and my tems at desktop are between 34c to 36c you sure your idle temp is 19c

On stock everything it idles @19C but now @3.2 1.5v its idling around 24-25C
