So I have decided to take up Overclockers generous offers and ordered the parts to make 2 new systems. One for myself and one for a friend. Having been a lifelong Intel/Nvidia buyer, this time I have decided to go down a different route and gone with AMD and ATi. I have built plenty of systems in the past but never really bothered with any overclocking. This is something I want to rectify with this new build With a limited budget for the tower (£700) I have done the best I can. So onto the relevant part and that is the components. I have gone for:-

AMD Phenom II 955

Asus Crosshair 3 Motherboard

Stock XFX ATI 4890

4gb Corsair 1600mhz XMS3 DHX Memory 9-9-9-24

OCZ ModXStream Pro 700w Silent SLI Ready ATX2 Modular Power Supply (not the greatest I know but budget was tight.

Arctic Cooling (AC-FRZ-64P) Freezer64 Pro

This is going in a Antec 300 case that has an extra 120mm fan which will be going on the side panel.

So I have read the stickies at the top and also browsed through Toms Hardware and had no real luck there. I am not looking to push these parts to their limits just get a nice reasonable overclock going which will be good for these parts. The tower will be running Windows 7 exclusively from the start (beta to begin with).

If anyone has any advice thats specific to any of these parts or reasonable targets to aim for at the start. Although there is plenty of advice around for the CPU there is very little around that I can find which will help with the RAM or the GPU.

So if anyone has the time and inclination to help out, any advice would be appreciated. Even tips that some would consider silly may be of help.

Thanks in advance,

Kev.

If you are building with overclocking in mind I would get a better CPU cooler than that.
Titan Fenrir and Thermalright Ultra extreme do very well.

Sorry for delay, I have already ordered and paid for the AC based on various reviews I have read. I am not looking to take the 955 any higher than 3.6ghz max. Will the AC be good enough for this or should I order a new cooler now?
