Hi,
My system has been running now for just over 2 weeks without problem.
So now I’m going to try and overclock it.

Decided to run Orthos to make sure the system is stable before I overclock & got this message,
“More than one CPU detected, You should run two copies of SP2004 simultaneously.”

I ran another copy, set CPU: 0 on the first one & set CPU: 1 on the second, then started both with Blend test.

The first copy (CPU: 0) started to run through the tests but the second copy (CPU: 1)
Just stayed on test 1 with PAGING showing in red.
Left them running for 15mins then stopped the first copy, no errors or warnings,
Then the second copy started to go through the tests, so left that for 15mins and stopped it, no errors or warnings.

Do I need to run 2 copies at the same time, or just 1 with Any CPU selected?

I’ve read through the posts on here about overclocking, but need the wisdom of you kind gents to get me to 3GHz.

Cheers,

Allan.

*I’ll get me coat*. :o

Download orthos stress prime, that will allow you to run both using 1 program.

Paging in red letters is perfectly normal. ;)

Got it at 3GHz

Hi again,

I’ve gradually increased the CPU FSB to 334MHz in the Bios and the CPU is now running at 3GHz,
which is the goal I was aiming for, so I’m happy with that. :)
Idle temps are 20/23, Load is around 44/45. (Checked with Core Temp)
It seems to be running stable, although I’ve only ran Orthos for about 1&1/2 hours.

The memory is a different story, as I really don’t know much about timings etc.
From reading posts in the forums I have set things up as best I can,
but would like you guys to point me in the right direction as to settings.

The memory I’m using is rated at 4-4-4-15 @ 2.10V, so that’s what I’ve set it at in the Bios,
also changed DDR Memory frequency to 533.

CPU-Z memory info is, Frequency 334.1MHz, - FSB : DRAM 1:1, 4-4-4-23 2T
Any reason why there is a difference to what is set in the bios?

Doesn’t look as though the memory is running as fast as it should be. :(
Is there something ells I should be adjusting?

I’ll list below some of the settings I have in the Bios.
If you see something I have set wrong, or should be set differently, please let me know.

Advanced Chipset Features.
Dram timing – Manual @ 4-4-4-15
Memory Hole – Disabled
Peg Force X1 – Disabled
HPET Support – Disabled

CPU Feature
C1E Support – Disabled
Execute Bit Support - Enabled
Intel Speedstep – Disabled
Virtualisation Tech - Enabled

Cell Menu
Dynamic overclocking – Disabled
Auto Disable PCI CLK – Enabled
Spread Spectrum – Enabled
Memory Voltage - 2.10V
Adjust CPU FSB – 334MHz
Adjust DDR Memory Frequency – 533

Haven’t got a clue what most of this means,
but hope someone out there does, And can clue me in.

Thanks for reading, and any comments will be much appreciated.

Allan.

The reason for the difference in the memory speed in bios and windows is that your 533 will then be overclocked when you raise the fsb, depending on what divider (ratio) it is set to.
