I have finally decided to have a go at overclocking im going to follow the beginners guide on here hopefully. Before i do i have a few questions.

First off all my setup is in my sig.

I checked my settings in bios everything was at stock so i want to ask
the CPU Vcore was1.152v and Dram voltage was 1.500v what sort of overlock would i get sticking with this voltage or is this just dependent on the chip? and the Dram voltage would i need to increase to get 1600mhz as currently its at 1333mhz?

and my second question is in bios and in speedfan whilst using prime95 it showed one of the systems fans only running at 752rpm i didnt think i had a fan that was below 1000rpm minimum in my system so this i confused me alittle as i know that they give or take10% which i figured would be 900rpm-1100rpm on a 1000rpm fan could this be because im using http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CB-071-AK&groupid=1929&catid=1979&subcat= ?

at stock and after running prime small fts test for 40mins my max temp was 60c on lowest core and 67c on highest so is it worth trying to overclock or will the temps just be too high?

Dependant on chip bud. What I'd recommend is upping the multiplier a step then running prime for 20-30 mins and if no errors up again until you get errors then up voltage

Believe there should be an XMP profile you can select in the BIOS for this to have 1600Mhz. Someone else may be able to advise.

My fans done that because they were set to auto, you don't want them running full speed all the time thought - it would be too noisy. I set my to PWM in my BIOS so they idle at 650 and under load adjust to 1000rpm might be worth checking that out

Unsure on max temps for 3570k but seems a bit high on stock

I'm not sure if your cooler is under performing or if it needs refitting but those temps are a bit high for stock. Looking at reviews for your cooler it looks like quite an old one, some reviews were on core 2 machines.

Not seen any benchmarks for the 612s on a quick Google but checked stock and people are getting similar temps on stock heat sink. What thermal compound did you apply and how many case fans do you have?.

its the thermal compound that came with the heat sink had it just under a year now but the fans i have are pretty crap the one supplied with the cooler has these stats
Fan Speed: 1300 RPM ±10% (900RPM with silent mode adapter)
Fan Airflow: 52.6 CFM (36.4 CFM @900RPM)
and i got another similar speed https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-000-NX
for push pull.....

i have got 2 fans on top extracting https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-001-BX

infact after looking at them top 2 that would explain why there at 752rpm coz there range is 800-1000rpm :S

and 1 on the rear extracting aswell 2 on front but they dont seem to do very much all 3 are these https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-009-BX

and my case is http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-046-BX&groupid=2362&catid=1850&subcat=

il check out that link thanks. I think some new fans are in order tbh and probably a new cooler before i overclock

yeah that post was mine and id ****ed up the install :P

Haha my bad, just realised the username *facepalm*

Before buying new fans, heatsink, etc I'd recommend getting some decent thermal compound and test reseating the heat sink.

I'm using this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=TH-003-AR

Which I was recommended by someone on this forum and it's working good.

However also check out this thread http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18416534

If it doesn't make a difference then at least you'll have some spare for future use/emergencies.

Try that and let us know how you get on.
