Afternoon,
So I've begun my first foray into overclocking. What I want is to get my i7 930 to 3.8.
I've decided to run a smallfft test in P95 to begin with, to see how my H50 holds the temps off.
After half an hour, all 4 cores had got to between 68 and 71 degrees. They have been sat at that temperature for a while though, and don't seem to be creeping any higher.
Here comes my first(!) question...
Along with the superb guide pinned at the top of this forum, I dug out an old copy of Custom PC that I had laying around, which has a 'how to overclock an 920' artivle in it. I figured it couldn't hurt to read what they had to say a long with all the advice thats on offer in this forum.
They mention that in an inital CPU stress test prior to overclocking, if your CPU hits 70 or above, your cooler is inadequate.
I am therefore already having the heebies that I've hit a hurdle!
So, is this misinformation, and should not really worry about it?
