Atm i have a pretty basic computer that im not sure weather it could handle gaming...but maybe with a decent gpu?

2Tb 72000rpm HDD
UEFI bios
Lately my xbox has been playing up & i think its on its way out so i'm leaning to start PC gaming especially for the better graphics. So i decided i want to build my own gaming rig capable of playing the most demanding games but i wouldn't mind overclocking it as well but i don't wanna fry a £1000 gaming rig attempting it so i thought i could try overclocking on this one as practice first.
So any help, useful info & tips would be greatly appreciated
