Hi,

I'm quite the novice to to overclocking, and I'm currently attempting to overclock my i5-2500K (Sandybridge) to 4.5GHz. I'm using a Gigabyte Z68XP-UD3 Intel Z68 rev 1.0 (BIOS F2) motherboard. I'm using a Gelid Tranquillo cooler.

I'm following the 4.5GHz instructions found here.

My problem is trying to lower the temperatures. My first thought is to lower the vcore to 1.265 (currently). However when idle, the reported vcore is higher than I've set (1.308v). Under load, it goes higher (1.32v). What can I do to make the voltage stick closer to what I set it to?

Secondly, I've come across a lot of talk about setting the vcore using a fixed value or using offsets. Is there a clear 'better' way of setting the vcore voltage?

Thanks in advance
