First Time Overclocking

Hey got a bunch of shiny new components this week and have been trying my hand at overclocking with some failures and what i believe to be some success although ill leave that up to you you guys

i currently have my i5 3570k OC'd @ 4.4GHz with 1.3v
i ran Prime95 overnight and it came up with no errors
temperatures seemed a little high to me at 80c max but im new to this so i dont really know

the rest of my system is as follows
Gigabyte Z77 D3H
Alpenföhn Matterhorn Pure Edition Cooler
GeIL EVO Leggera 8GB DDR3 1600mhz RAM
MSI 6950 2GB
NZXT GAMMA Case
Antec EA-500 500w PSU

i run my i5 at a fixed 1.2v at 4.4 helps keep the heat down

1.3v is pretty high for 4.4ghz

I tried @2.5v but it failed Prime 95 after about 10 mins

It may be you memory that fails when you overclock your cpu so set the cas to 9-9-9-28 and dram voltage to 1.5v.

i haven't checked but i'm pretty sure that the memory is already set like that at least thats how its showing in CPUz

Update i tried @ 1.26v and seems stable temps dropped to around 70c-75c max
ill run prime95 overnight again to make sure though

what sort of clock should i be aiming for?
i see the bundles on overclockers are around 4.4-4.6 but im assuming this is a precaution as they need to guarantee their overclock for a wide variety of customers ?

i ran prime 95 overnight there were no errors, But the program itself crashed witha prime 95 has stopped responding message does this indicate instability with the settings or with the program itself ?

ok so i tried again and it was unstable upped to 1.27v and all seems fine after 10 hrs of prime 95
