8600GT is AWFUL for gaming.

Also, I would swap to a cheaper AMD system, as it will out-perform the i3 (and in some cases the i5) when overclocked.

Stock comparison

Rest of build looks good, but what's your total budget?

For £440 you could get this, which will be much much better:

1 x AMD Athlon II X4 Quad Core 640 3.00GHz (Socket AM3) - Retail £77.99
1 x Asus M4A88T-M AMD 880G (Socket AM3) PCI-Express DDR3 Motherboard £59.99
1 x BeQuiet Pure Power L7 530W Power Supply £42.98
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (ST31000528AS) £38.99
1 x Patriot Viper 2 Sector 5 4GB (2x2GB) PC3-12800C8 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory Kit £34.99
1 x Xigmatek Asgard Midi Tower Case - Black £29.60
1 x Samsung SH-S223C/BEBE 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £13.99
Total : £437.63 (includes shipping : £11.75).

Yes, it's a bit of a downgrade to the Athlon but it will still perform more than adequately in games, and is a quad core rather than dual :p and this GPU is infinitely better than your current one!

Even the onboard is better than your current one for that matter :p

Ok this is interesting stuff, the quad core was mentioned to me but after looking at the clock speeds playing most of the recent games the i3-2120 is up their with the best and not really touched by any amd cpu's apart from the hex cores',

I see what you mean about the graphics card but I only plan on investing in a better one in a few weeks after I have the system up and running,

I see what you mean by overclocking the amd cpu's also but this has never really interested me (I know I'm on the wrong website if that's not my interest),

The final thing I would really like to know is what if any additional wiring or connectors will I need?

Cheers for everyone's input,

Tom
