Hi, One of my big uses when it comes to my gaming is racing games, Currently I use a 360 controller for my racing as I skimped on a wheel and stand set (about 100 quid for both) about 6 to 9 months ago and it's rubbish so I don't use it.

I need to buy a decent set up, My main choices at the moment are the obvious two, The G27 from Logitech and the RS500 from Thrustmasters.

I'd prefer the RS500 but I'm leaning towards the considerably cheaper G27 because once I buy the shifter I'd want with the RS500 it's close to double the price. Is it worth the extra? What are the most noticeable differences between them when your in game?

They won't be bolted onto a desk, I'll be getting a frame/racing seat set to use it with so any advice, knowledge and experiences that you can share would be appreciated,
Thanks a lot.

I would also look at Fanatec, they do a very wide range of wheels/pedals/shifters/handbrakes etc.

What I like about Fanatec is the adjustability and the fact you can switch between presets, all on the wheel. That and their load cell brake club sport pedals are superb value for money.

Currently though I'm running a thrustmaster TX wheel and made my own intelligent adapter box to allow me to hook up my Fanatec clubsport pedals, this is a superb combination. It even has some adjustability on wheel, but its not as advanced as the Fanatec, however, its FFB is top notch.

Inside sim racing also love the TX wheel, but they use the additional T3PA thrustmaster pedals, because the cheapo 2 pedal sent that comes with the TX wheel are really poor.

I've had the G27 wheel, but gave it to my brother, its not adjustable and was PC only, with less accessories available.

Its all horses for courses, and how much you want to spend!

Thanks, I'll check there range out, Another reason why I was leaning towards the G27 was because I'd like to use a bigger wheel with it and they have no buttons on the wheel making a change a lot easier than with the RS500, Plus current G27's can be used with Playstations, I'm unsure if there X-box friendly though.

G27 or T500rs won't work with Xbox One or 360. Only PC and PS3 are fully supported, there isn't anything to test them against on PS4.

Fanatec CSR and GT2 will work with PC, PS3 and 360 (not XB1) and again, PS4 not confirmed.

Have you considered the Driving Force GT? It's a pretty good entry level wheel.

Console support is tricky, as mentioned above, the Logitech is not supported on any Xbox.

In terms of rims, the Thrustmaster TX or T500RS (or even the new T300) have a range of interchangeable wheels, I'm getting the GTE wheel for my TX to see what its like, they change over in seconds.

The G27 is the least flexible, and its wheel does feel small compared to all the other wheels I have.

Fanatec do a new wheel carrier for its high end wheels that allows much more options again, but at a significant cost.

All hourses for courses, I can only offer advice for what I've preferred from spending a lot on this kind of thing..

I thought you could plug the clubsports directly into the USB, or is this hack for console compatibility?

But yeah, the Clubsport V2 pedals are brilliant. In my mind's eye, CSPV2, with a ThrustMaster wheelbase (TX / T500RS), remove the static paddles, and put the F1 / GTE rim. Ideally, an affordable direct drive wheelbase, but these are expensive for a reason (high torque, high precision CNC motor). I love the CSW / CSR Elite (the console version), but it's again 2x the price, and the Thrustmasters seem more reliable.
