Hi I am looking for a new PC from scratch for a first build in region of 1200-1300 GBP to include a monitor, thanks guys.

Contrary to the evidence so far I am a pretty smart guy

and can probably handle software based over clocking. If it ends up with geek goggles on and a soldering iron with crocodile clips and stuff then I would have to bow out lol.

What is the anticipation for the R600?

It does indeed say it is HDCP etc but would the x1950 ati card run 1080p video? I am half faffing about with the idea of the dell ultrasharp 2407... :confused:

Yeah, thing is I can sneakily upgrade on a slow but steady time line pretending those bits are knackered to the mrs. Carting out a perfectly ok 19 inch monitor is a lot harder under her scrutiny just because "I want a bigger one".
