First time time gpu bios update. Need advice.

Hey guys, i just ordered a Gainward 260 golden sample, and i was just going through a few wesbite regarding the card and what people thought of it. I have realised this card has a tendancy to run on 3d mode at all times and doesn't switch to 2d mode.

I found out Gainward had released a BIOS update for the card which i was thinking of using, but the problem is, i haven't the faintest idea how to update a gpu bios

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if it;s possible to download a third party program that will make it easy for me to update the gpu bios through the program.
If not then i would appreciate if anyone can give me a step by step guide on how to update a gpu bios...

Well wait till you get that card and see what firmware you have
you may not need to update.

Yeah i know but i was just wondering what if i did have to upgrade. I could also do with the info just incase if i wish to upgrade my gpu bios in the future..

you want to download nv flash

it needs to run from a pure dos prompt, so get a usb key and format it with the "hp formatting tool"

then get the bios file on the key and reboot

work out how to get your motherboard to boot the usb device, usually a mater of changing the viable hdd order.

then flash away
