If i want an headset just to watch porn what the go to head set hahaha lol

but no really first time ever trying VR what should be the starter headset for someone that just wants to try it. i can't see me spending £600 on my first unit to find i dont like it or i get sickness.

Phone VR isn't a fair representation. A quest 2 is your best best. £300 new. Very solid headset, wireless, and can also be used standalone. Does require a facebook account though, which some people don't like.

With all of you saying quest 2 I assume that’s the go2 headset, I’ll have a look round at prices
Thank you

Id just make a second account for the headset

Don't make a fake account. Just have it on your main account, there's no reason not to, you can set it all to private, and it doesn't seem to be that closely linked. I still get ads trying to sell me a quest 2 headset despite having one for over a year now.

I've just seen my iPhone supports VR is it worth getting a £15 headset just to see if i get sickness?
how common is VR sickness lol
It’s fairly common and I suffered from it a lot when I started doing VR. If you just take a ginger tablet before you play VR it stops you getting motion sickness.

Phone VR has done more damage to 'real' VR than anything else, as it's so poor, and gives a misleading impression what proper VR is like. So don't bother with it.

Just get a Quest 2. It's not even worth bothering with a second hand Quest 1 as they're not that comfortable and the resolution isn't as good if you want to watch video.

Before I do something silly, I’m going to assume the cheaper quest 2 standalone won’t link to pc?

That would be a bad assumption. You can definitely connect it to the PC. It'll look even better when you do, since (if you have a good PC) you can then use that to drive it. You can either get a USB C cable, or just use your wireless network to play wirelessly.

so your saying the standalone unit is not standalone and will connect to other things.

then calling it standalone is a bit silly as I was assume it’s a unit that work by it’s self only.

thanks for info

It is perfectly capable of being standalone, it has the added benefit of also being able to connect to other things. For me, standalone means it's capable of operating by itself, not that it is limited to only do so.
