Looking to watercool this rig:

E8400 CPU
BFG GeForce 8800GTX (standard version)
Asus Maximus Forumulae (not special edition :9 )
8Gb OCZ-6400 Kit
3x 320Gb HD's

Lian Li V1000 Case

I'm currently thinking of blocks on the CPU and a full cover block on the video card.

What brands should I be looking at and what brands should I avoid? Also any tips/pointers on common cockups to avoid etc would be appreciated ;) Been researching the topic for a while now but still learning...

Silence and keeping the damned dust down!

Will be overclocking, looking to around a 4GHz clock on the CPU (doable on air so should be fine??)

Don't really want a mess of stuff outside the case, the more I can fit inside the (already cramped) chassis, the better.

Budget, not going to be insanely tight, but not flamboyant either. It's for practicality more than show. I'm anticipating around the £200 mark.

What do I know? Well I need a reservoir, a radiator, a full card block for the video card and a CPU block plus some anti-corrosian stuff to fill her up with. I know thermaltake is often avoided and swiftech is quite liked generally. I'm not too sure on choosing cable diameters but I assume when I select the various components I need to make sure it's the same as the inlets/outlets.

I'd like to avoid making holes in my case as much as I can.

I'd be interested to see what comes out of this as I am considering going back to watercooling.

I had issues with noisy and broken Hydor pump impellors so I am hoping the newer pumps on the market are quieter and don't break so quick.

I assume 1/2" is still the way to go?

Thermachill the best rads or Black ICE?

D-TEK fuzion the block of choice?

What about pump?

What about this setup:

EK-Supreme CPU - Plexi
- Barb Size 1/2" Nickel Plated
EK Supreme LGA 775 Mounting Plate
XSPC Bay Reservoir - Silver
- Barb Size 1/2" Nickel Plated
1/2" Clear High Flex Hose (XSPC)
- Hose Length 5 Meters
Black Ice GT Stealth I
- Barb Size 1/2" Nickel Plated
EK-FC8800 8800GTX/Ultra***
- Barb Size 1/2" Nickel Plated

The EK stuff seems to have good reviews... Can get all that for about £150+VAT, just need coolant/inhibitor

12V Laing D5 Vario Water Pump

This pump is RPM adjustable

• P1 = 1.800 revs./min

• P3 = 3.300 revs./min
• P4 = 4.050 revs./min

Is this pump any good for something that would be effective but give me the flexibility to run quietly?

i have the d5 and when i was airing my system out with nothing else on other than a psu and the pump, the pump was silent at max settings and could not be heard over the psu :) hope that helps

if you look in my sig theres a link to my water build using a thermochill and a fuzion as well built in a v2000

Very nice! V1000 is gonna be a little cramped, I'm thinking of using a 1.120 rad and mounting it externally using the extra 120m fan bracket (with a few adjustments). Theory is I can screw the bracket onto the back of the PC and have it tubed up.

a 120.1 will not cool very much without a noisy fan.

As for dust, bear in mind that a 120.1 attached to a fan attached to a Radbox on the back of the machine will get very dusty and is not easy to clean.
