Hey guys,

Finally decided to go watercooling for my latest build. I originally ordered a Corsair H100 but had a million and 1 problems with it and sent it back for a refund.

I've done quite a bit of research already and have came up with the following parts:

YOUR BASKET
1 x EK Supreme HF CPU Waterblock - Nickel Acetal £55.99
1 x XSPC EX240 120mm Radiator - Black £39.98
1 x EK DCP 4.0 Pump (12v) £39.98
1 x EK Reservoir Combo DCP 4.0 £24.98
3 x Phobya Nano-G 12 PWM 1500rpm RED LED Case Fan £10.99 (£32.97)
1 x Masterkleer Hose Pack PVC 15,9/11mm (7/16ID) Clear 3.3m £10.88
2 x Mayhems X1 UV Red Premixed Watercooling Fluid 1L £7.99 (£15.98)
6 x EK PSC Compression Fitting 7/16 [16/12mm] - G1/4 - Black £3.50 (£21.00)
Total : £253.81 (includes shipping : £10.00).

I know that I may be skimping out slightly on the pump for example but will I really notice that much of a difference? I'm really at the peak of my budget already.

Also, I won't be buying the coolant from OCuK as they only have clear or UV (which I hate), unless of course they suddenly decide to get some in (wink wink).

Opinions would be great and also let me know if I need anything else :)

You could save some money by:

Getting a nickel plexi block (ok that's a lie, I'm just trying to find a way to spec nickel plexi to everyone :p)
Using 1/2 barbs

And use those measly savings to get a thicker rad and get some of the scythe gentle typhoons 1850rpms for £13 each on this week only sale

Also, a thicker rad and possibly a DDC pump :)

haha, I don't like the plexi top as I'm going for a red/black theme :P

In regards to the rad, im not sure if I can fit a thicker rad up top in my 650d?

Why DDC instead of the DCP? Any huge advantages?

Also I like the look of compression fittings instead of barbs with huge clamps.

You don't need clamps with 7/16 Rubin on 1/2 barbs :)

If you have a plexi top you can have red fluid going through it :D

The DDC is more powerful and is a better long term thing. Not necessary, but good if you plan to expand the loop at any point.

Why exactly won't you buy the coolant from OcUK?

They stock pretty much the complete mayhems range.

7/16 tubing is so tight around barbs that you don't need clamps :)

Mayhems X1 would be the way to go, but the best thing to do is get deionised water, mayhems 5/10ml red dye and mayhems biocide and make your own colour :D

Sounds good, but OCuK dont sell the dye, which means I will have to pay for shipping twice, and to NI thats not cheap.

Might just go for the UV red on here and hope that it doesn't glow any under normal light.

Is there any need for me to get deionised water anyway to rinse out the rad, or is that unnecessary?

Also what about a silver coil?

You can buy due from mayhems directly and as the bottles are tiny, it shouldn't cost more than a fiver I don't think.

If you get premixed fluids then a kill cool isn't needed, but I'd you go for dye, then you need biocide or a kill coil, I prefer biocide.

You can pop down to a chemists/car shop and get some DI to rinse the rads quickly.

Sweet, so if I'm getting the DDC instead of the DCP, which top would you recommend for it? And also would the 10w be enough or do I need 18w?

I'll also need another res as I had picked one that connected directly to the DCP.

Btw it looks like OCuK dont do 7/16 barbs? :O

10w or 18w DDC tho?

So how does this look:

YOUR BASKET
1 x OcUK Tech Lab - 18w DDC Pump & Alphacool Acetal Top Value Combo £70.98
1 x EK Supreme HF CPU Waterblock - Nickel Acetal £55.99
1 x XSPC EX240 120mm Radiator - Black £39.98
1 x Phobya 5,25" Single Bay Reservoir Black £24.98
3 x Scythe Gentle Typhoon 120mm 1850 RPM - 3 Pin £12.98 (£38.94)
1 x Masterkleer Hose Pack PVC 15,9/11mm (7/16ID) Clear 3.3m £10.88
1 x Mayhems X1 UV Red Premixed Watercooling Fluid 1L £7.99
6 x OcUK 1/2" G1/4 - FatBoy Style - Black Nickel - Barb Fitting £1.68 (£10.08)

Apart from some distilled water to rinse the rad, is that all I would need?

Opps, forgot to add an extra 2 doh!

So I don't need any clamps? :/

I'm kinda worrying about that, some people have said the pressure from the pump can sometimes push the hose off the barbs, or is this just if they have the same ID as the tube?

Same as cleeecoo said!

Can't see it doing that with 7/16" and 1/2" inch config. But personally, I can't really see this happening atall unless you can pull the hose off the barb by just touching it!

It's so difficult to get the tubing off at times that i cut the tubing and unscrewed the barb and threw them both away!

Thank god I have 600 left!:p
