Okay so I want to get into watercooling and I am thinking of doing the following

Upgrade my power supply to antec 1200 to cope with the 2 graphics cards and extra peripherals plus watercooling

add the following watercooling parts:

12V Laing DDC-1T+ Ultra 18W (Swiftech MCP355)
EK-DDC X-TOP Rev.2 Plexi

Black Ice SR-1 360 Radiator
Black Ice GT Stealth 120 Radiator

EK Supreme HF Nickel Plexi (775/1156/1366/AM2/AM3/939/XEON)
EK-FC5870 MSI Acetal+Nickel x2
EK Multioption Reservoir X2 250 Advanced
Silver Kill Coil
Distilled Water

EK 12mm (1/2") G1/4 High-Flow Fitting x12
XSPC 7/16 UV Clear Blue - 1m XSPC 7/16 UV Clear Blue - 1m x8

Anyone got any suggestions or does that sound like a viable loop for 2 x 5870 and my i7 cpu (currently overclocked at 3.6ghz)

I doubt you will need to upgrade your PSU tbh!
I am going to be running watercooling when the rest of my bits arrive. i7, 5850 on an HX620W.

No need to get a new psu as the above have said. Seeing as it's cpu, dual gpu and dual rads, I would recommend getting a D5 pump.

Other than that, you have a very good selection of components. As it's your first time I'd get clips for the barbs, just to be safe

Good list of parts there, if you are useing your 800D, then try and find afew stand-out builds that have similar parts. And have a look at how some-one else did it for a good inication as to how to go about your build.

Afaik, the project log section has some very nice 800D builds some with dual GPU. Hope that helps :)

thats a good thing to hear if i can use the existing power supply that would be useful save me some cash, any particular direction of flow I should setup in the loop like cpu>rad(Stealth 120)>gpu>gpu>rad(360) to give optimal cooling?

I do plan to buy some clips to ensure a good strong fit but cant seem to find anywhere in stock currently and yes i have seen the 800d builds in the system which is why i want to put one together, I currently use akasa viper fans for the cooling would those be okay for the radiators, i opted for the slim stealth one for the back cooler just above the cpu where i currently have a corsair H50 mounted.

right revised hardware list:

EK D5 X-Top - Black Acetal G1/4" Rev2
Swiftech Laing D5 Vario MCP655 12V DC Pump
Black Ice SR-1 360 Radiator
Black Ice GT Stealth 120 Radiator

EK Supreme HF Nickel Plexi (775/1156/1366/AM2/AM3/939/XEON)
EK Multioption Reservoir X2 250 Advanced

EK 12mm (1/2") G1/4 High-Flow Fitting
XSPC 7/16 UV Clear Blue - 1m

Going to order two of the 5870 MSI lightning blocks from EK direct

Looks good to me :)

EDIT: I assume you know how you're going to leak test everything, and about jumping the psu etc? Also you'll need real patience to get the gpu waterblocks onto the cards

I have a power supply tester that I can use to jump the PSU into life so that it will power up and yes I will run at least 24hours of leak testing before I power everything up for real.

I will take it slow and patient on the installation I will take it slow and steady to make sure it gets done right cant afford any mistakes with water involved!

make sure you do plenty of reading before taking the plunge, that is probably the most important part knowing what you're doing and getting everything systematically correct.

aside from that, have fun with it :)

I have been reading around on forums and information on other people's builds for some length of time now, do you have any recommended reading before starting something like this?

the watercooling sticky on this subforum will probably be the best i can think of off the top of my head, i used it when i 1st set up a loop, and it ran fine for the entirety of its life :)

The fitting of the barb thread into the rad/block/pump etc, something like a o-ring or tape to lock the thread and stop any leaks
