I need help on building my first ever pc, will be using it for casual gaming eg, pubg, minecraft & other trending games.

Contexts: never owned or built a gaming pc, played console my whole life and want to get into pc gaming, I don’t really have any knowledge on pc building.
I’ve been doing research on this for few month but it’s rather confusing which parts to buy and what’s the best to use.
Can you help me build a pc my budget is £500-£550
I’m from the uk.
Thank you

Hello and welcome.

will be helpful to know if you need a monitor, mouse, keyboard and if you need windows?
£550 is a tricky budget for a gaming machine especially if you need any of the above.

Here is a configuration with a monitor, mouse and keyboard:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Worth remembering you can download windows from Microsoft for free and only have to deal with a watermark for a while, then get the licence later.

for a first time gaming system for a tight budget like that, i will assume you will want it ready built, so heres an options.. please note OS included where possible as its rather expensive on this site to fit in with the budget..

  • 1 x Titan Kestrel Mini ITX Gaming PC - Intel Core i3/i5/i7 = £534.98

i had an haswell equivalent before which was my first proper gaming system and played many games very well on medium-high @ 1920x1080 of which was a multimedia screen not a gaming orientated, so this i3, rx460 should see you through whatever games fairly nicely depending what they are.

or for a self build that you could possibly get OCUK to build for you, maybe something like this?

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £551.62
(includes shipping: £11.70)

shipping puts it just over £550, but did manage windows in the build, shoulsnt need more than 8gb ram either just yet and the rx 550 is better than having something weaker, but nice quad core to do you well for games and apps

In order to lose any warranty, which for some components can extend up to 5 years. Yeah, great an idea, don't mention it? :D

Thumbs up ;)

Once your at a 1000 post you can join us in the members market :)
Shame OP hasn't got the post count, can score awesome parts with users that are decent and help with any RMA that may pop up
5 years, 2 of them to Hong Kong :D

Also my Corsa and many cars are second hand with no warranties
Also sold many parts on here :)

@Plec @Journey know you guys helped with second hand or dell unit recommendations for them and to upgrade them, any issues with second hand ?

is that member a troll? seems to be anti-realistic of many posts

im no expert, but what i specced for a self build is pretty decent considering the budget and factoring windows, but for £550 you can get better if older on the used market, mean for my area on gum someone is selling this system for £550

i5 6600k,
msi z170m
8gb ram
mx300 275gb ssd
2xWDB 1tb
4gb rx 460 windforce OC
EVGA supernova G2 550
Thermaltake Core V21 case

AOC I2369VM 24" monitor

would be much better than what i put in the basket, so unless you want brand new and warranties then used is the best option to go.

That's why my first line was , 2nd hand :D
But seems a member thought that idea was a poor choice ... :)
Wonder if that 6600k will hit 4.9Ghz :D

The only troll here is you. Wondering what makes you think that dragging people behind in their choices and giving them INFERIOR configurations is realistic.

At 200W power consumption, yes!

im a troll for suggesting affordable and in some cases logical choices? yeah righto!. people can buy whatever the hell they like, they have come on here as i do myself and ask for advise or ideas, suggesting someone spends over their budget because you reckon its best is idiotic, as someone said to me, you buy what you can afford and make do, just because because ryzen has the price to performance over intel doesnt make them better, it has been stated many times on this forum that intel are stronger for gaming than AMD full stop and from my experience of both sides for older generations i would also agree, the only reason i would get ryzen myself is for the price as im not a pure pc gamer anymore due to xbox one/ps4..

the OP has 500-550 to spend yet you go straight in and spend over 50 quid extra for no reason, it may or may not be better, but dont assume people have that extra to spend all the time, plus you can get used monitors for free or cheaper than new, let the buyer decide what they want to buy, in truth all you did over my self build was pay extra for the 560 or a 1400..

im sure there are better used systems than that one i posted with the 6600k, but still a lot of machine for a new timers first pc gaming rig.
