So on Thursday & Friday I finally got round to visiting the Mach Loop with a few others from the TP forums (including mrgubby from here).

Amazing experience! From what the regulars said, we got very luck with the number and variety of passes - I was worried there'd be virtually nothing and I'd end up spending two days sitting on a Welsh mountain doing nothing at all! The weather was also very kind to us, although a bit less so to my bonce!

Anyway, here are a few shots - bear in mind this was my very first attempt at shooting planes so be kind! :p

I'd definitely be tempted to make the trip sometime too since I do love having planes fly by at eye level. I get that a little bit around here for the Eastbourne and Shoreham Airshows but those valleys must be an awesome place to see em too. Shame you don't know what will be flying in advance.

What lens were you using?

All shot with a Canon 70-200 2.8 II with a 1.4x II extender, except 8 where no extender was used. First four were using a 7D whilst the rest were with the 5D3.

Fantastic shots, really like 1 and 4, especially the heat distortion on 1.

Are you using lightroom, I think both these could benefit from a tad less exposure and maybe a little contrast / clarity / sharpening?

You're a lucky lucky lucky *** getting all these on your first visit, you should have had at least one day of sitting in the rain/wind suffering for your photography :D
