I've decided that water cooling is an option I want to consider/rule out for a project that I am planning.

End goal is to have 8x gpu's (V100 16GB) in a custom water loop that, if you need pull 1x card for any reason, you can keep the rest of the system running, in the same way an air cooled setup would work.

I'm looking for advice and suggestions on radiators, pumps, tubing, fittings and general layout.

If you were going to approach this, how would you do it?

Budget and space are of no concern.

If you want to be able to pull cards and keep the loop operational you'll need to consider a manifold.

Youll need 1slot enterprise style waterblocks with ports on the rear edge also I suspect (case and motherboard dependent)

@Sin_Chase Thanks for the reply.

Aha, manifolds look like a solution for sure!

The V100's will be mounted in a manner whereby they have plenty of space vertically, as they would be on a sxm2 gpu board essentially.

probably will need a lot of quick disconnect fittings :cry:
is this where my gentle typhoons are going!?

@tamzzy

This is where they are going :p

However, until then, 2x of them have been doing the heavy lifting in homemade HVAC solution for the garage. Really impressed with them :D

My advise, buy something like a A100 instead and set up VMs. That way you’ll pull closer to 300watts than this setup which will be closer to 3000.

Depends where you buy them, but it will cost far less than this system which would be eye watering to setup and run.

@jigger

Well unless you can quote prices your words are wind.

This entire system is going to cost me less than £1000. As far as I can tell an A100 would cost me 5x that?

You 'advise' doesn't even address the topic of this thread.

Do you have any watercooling suggestions, or not?

The PSUs will cost you £1000 alone. Have you any clue what sort of minimum specification you’re looking for at to build this?

No I don't know what sort of specification I need for an 8x GPU water cooling loop.

Hence the thread.

Thanks for your *ahem* help...

I wouldn’t worry too much about cooling kit because only two of the GPUs will be running with your Xeon system.

I buy and use this type of kit and It’s not going to work how you vision it. If you did build a system capable of running these GPUs (pair of Rome chips with a complete nv switch backend minimum) and somehow manage to get everything operational, it’s going to cost you 7,8 even £9k PA in electricity and the performance will be terrible. You can’t see it, but I’m giving you good advise here. You’re wasting your time with this platform. Volta is little more than ewaste at this point.
