Hi,

I have an akasa mirage case, and have decided i want to water cool my cpu and gpu.

Been looking on OCUK website for some parts, however i am new to this so please tell me if i miss something i need or if i am doing something wrong :)

PUMP: Swiftech MCP655 12 V DC £49.94
RES: Swiftech Res £11.46
RAD: Swiftech MCR220 - QP Dual 120mm Radiator £25.84

Obviously i need some barbs i think i want 1/2" ones as i have heard there better for cooling and i will need some 1/2" tubing.

I had a thought about a loop and decided on this:

RES -> CPU -> GPU -> RAD -> RES

Let me know if this is wrong i have no experience with this what so ever and any help or tips or suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks

Rad - Thermochill PA 120.2 - £50
Pump - LaingDDC+(alphacooltop) - £65
CPU - DTek FuZion or Apogee GTX -£39
Res - Swiftech MicroRes - £12
Tubing - 10ft Masterkleer 7/16 (thickwalled) - £11
Barbs - 2x3/8-1/2 BSP, 2xG1/4 - 1/2 - £5
Hoseclamps - 6x12-16mm - £3
Additive - Zerex(pink) or G11 pentosin (blue) + £1.50
Water - Distilled 5L - £5

=£191.50

Thats a top end kit that should last a long time which is also customisable should you want to change parts around. You will also need a GPU block should you want to cool that aswell - dunno which card you have so I can't comment on that. Obviously there are cheaper parts about but if you compromise on the above performance could suffer.

Thanks for the info,

I couldn't get that exact setup but i have ordered the following:

Black Ice Extreme 240 Rad w/ 1/2" Barbs
Laing D5 Vario Pump
Repack Cooling Slot Res w/ 1/2" Barbs
10 Zinc Plated Jubilee Wormdrive Clips
4 Feet Tygon 1/2" Hose
Danger Den TDX 775 Block w/ 1/2" Fittings
Danger Den 8800 GTX Block w/ 1/2" Fittings

Anyone see any problems with the above? Could i get away with a single 120 radiator? to save on space or better get the 240??

Thanks :)

Yeah I ordered 10ft of tubing mate and belive me your gonna make mistakes with it lol. Also I don't know if your in the uk but there are a few places where you could have got the exact setup w3bbo recommended.

Cheers guys,

emailed and chnaged to 10ft of tubing instead :)

Any ideas were i can find this Apogee GTX waterblock in the uk cannot find one anywhere?

Thanks in advance.

nobody can say as it will be a competitor

SOrry about thread hijack but similar line.

I currently have

res > rad > pump > cpu >gfx > north bridge > hdd > res.

now I dont think its a very good set up in terms of the loop. The res has fins on and is a semi rad.
so would it be worth putiing the res in the middle of the loop.

Also which order would you put the blocks in, I assume heat wise it goes
cpu> gpu > north bridge > hdd. So could *** water actually be heating up the hdd at the moment? or will the water by this point still be cold?

Res>Pump>Rad>CPU>NB>GPU>HD

Tbh it dosn't really matter which way you have your loop around aslong as the pump is after the res. I wouldn't bother cooling your HD's eaither as this is adding more resriction to the loop for no benefit whatsoever imo - hard disks don't usually get hot enough to cause any major problems. Cooling the NB is a hotly debated topic as it has little impact on overclocking - I cool mine out of sound reduction more than anything else.

That's why I'm cooling the hard drive, To reduce needs for any internal fan.

No internal fans? So how is the Southbridge and memory coping? I would cool them before the HD tbh.

Ok,

received my PA 120.2 RAd this morning along with fans and 1/2" nikel barbs, think i might start a new thread on modding my Akasa Mirage for internal 1/2" water cooling. Going to mount the RAD in the top of the case and have two blow holes pulling in outside air.
