so ive been gaming since arcade days, even bbc micro days(donkey kong  ), had every console under the sun and pc gaming for 25+yrs. always loved my driving games, so thought what the hell lets buy a cheap wheel and give it a go, so got T300 rs gt, but im struggling on gt7, need some tips/help especially when wheel loads up when turning past 75%, just understeers like crazy, also its far easier to lose it with wheel on grass, once rear end goes, its spin out time:cry: something easy to control with a pad. like seconds a lap off best times with pad.

or is it just a case of relearning a game with many hrs off practice

I can’t help however I bought one a few years back, with pedals and a fold out stand thing to play Forza and F1. Could never get the knack of it no matter what driving view I used. I was miles quicker with a controller. I ended up flogging the lot on eBay.

Worth googling for settings for the wheel you're using and the game you're playing. They can make a massive difference. But otherwise it's just getting used to it. I would say a wheel isn't necessarily going to make you faster - but it is going to make the game loads more fun and immersive - once you've got used to it.

yeah was bought to get more involved in game, need a different approach to driving with wheel compared to pad, atm everytime i put wheel off track it spins out even if no acceleration at all, very strange, shouldn't spin out when straight n no power applied, but its every time:mad::mad::cry:, so frustrating

plenty of options to set up your wheel. In Forza I was really bad, altered a few setting like dead zones etc and FFB and it made the world of difference. I am a bit quicker with the wheel compared to a pad as I can keep the car turning smoothly as the wheel is easier to maintain position whereas a thumb stick, I keep having to make tiny adjustments to keep the car turning without it twitching too much due to thumb stick movement.

I've added another account on gt6 so I start again from scratch. Think it could be better way as I'm still trying to race controller style and pad is so much easier to control oversteer or n off, wheel is very unforgiving. I miss Forza but just too many idiots on there ruined the game as well as it being released totally unfinished. Shame really

Make sure you run the wheel calibration in each game and theres some useful sites for correct settings.

Honestly though - I'd suggest some arcade racers (Driveclub, dirt 5 etc) to get the "hang" of the wheel prior to jumping into simcade stuff like GT7 or even Asetto Corsa
