I built a Westfield for a mate a couple years ago and we've started tracking it over the summer, and now I'm wondering about getting my own weekend and track toy (ideally ~400bhp/ton to be competitive with the Westfield). I was originally planning a late Elise or even Tuscan but then I realised that I would be unlikely to track it, given their cost - so I can delay that crisis for a couple years and dabble with a ~5-7k toy in the interim...
My main concern about the Westfield is a lack of security/roof/anything so I've never felt happy taking it anywhere that hasn't got secure garage parking. Yeah, I know kit cars are less likely to be stolen than other cars, but surely it's not zero and would surely attract some attention from oiks.
I've been thinking about a turbo'd NA/NB mx5, but after scanning through other track spec cars I keep going back to a Fisher Fury. I know there's a wealth of random car experience on here, so has anyone got/had a Fury and any thoughts/feedback? Known issues/rust-points to check?
The one I'm looking at has doors and a soft top, so hopefully those doors lock, but have people had issues with kit car security? I'm guessing a removable steering wheel and a hidden kill switch for starters?
