I am looking for a nice place for a 2/3 day camping/fishing holiday and i thought i might get some suggestions here.

I am young man in my 20s and have company, so safety isn't an issue. My girlfriend and a few mates will be coming with me but they don't fish. They do love doing a bit of exploring and camping-y stuff like building fires, so i want to avoid going to private camping sites as most places don't like people setting up camp-fires.

I do every kind of fishing apart from sea fishing and would preferably like to camp as close to the water as possible for night fishing. Not too bothered about how good the catching is or what type of fish it is. Lake, reservoir, canal or river it is all good but i would prefer it to be out of the way and roomy so we dont disturb anyone.

Dont care if it is a private place i need to book/rent a spot or not.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I am located in Surrey but would drive if it is not too far off.

Thanks guys!

Thank you, this is the sort of thing i am looking for. Unfortunately fishing after dusk requires a membership and though i couldn't find it on the site, i don't believe they allow camp fires beyond a bbq.

I don't mind going for something more natural like a field with public access next to a river where camping would likely be allowed. Like i mentioned before, doesn't need to be a private fishery (though would be nice if the fishing is good) as private fisheries tend to be fairly strict on camping rules.

I don't have the equipment for Sea fishing and wouldn't risk my current gear in a salty environment.

Anyone been camping in new forest before?

I know they have designated camp sites but there are plenty of places to fish there which only require day permits, i might give them a buzz and ask whether they would allow night fishing/camping anywhere in new forest. They would probably kick up a fuss if we went round starting bonfires but i am sure they would be fine with a small cookfire or a contained campfire.

Thank you.

This one is fairly close to home and looks promising. Not as 'Wild' as i wanted but like Cainer said, those days are long gone.

Can you not just go to a forest or field and camp out without setting of alarm bells?

I can understand if it is private land or an area that has protected wildlife that shouldn't be disturbed but surely there is somewhere that doesn't frown upon natural outdoor fun which isn't just a grassy car-park to pitch a tent?
