Fishing - Anybody doing any ?

Out tomorrow, going to go to Pevensy Bay with a couple of others. Phoned around, no one has any bait, tides are all wrong boooo. Frozen stuff it is

Not even the marina tackle box?

The Mrs wouldn't allow me to store bait in the freezer.. if I could I'll fill a shelf with stuff..

Unfortunately I have the joyous interview prep tomorrow.. otherwise I'd be tempted to beach crash your session :p

Seems the deepest point close in is nearer to the sailing club..

We are quite a bit further east than that, it's our regular haunt, you can park on the beach directly behind you.

Tried three tackle shops, because of the tides, tide times and weather no one has any

You just made me think of something I can build out of wood - a butt stop for the rods. Piece of wood with enough depth to take the rod buts and a screw thread for gripping the tripod leg, Simples!

i rarely use the rod butt holders for my tripod as my rods are different lengths,
i like to have both tips at the same height for better bite detection,
if i fish the marina or similar i dont use my tripod at all.. just lean them up against the wall (and its one less thing to carry :))

Yup, I remember :) worked well too.

Classic :D

Supposedly the only way to prevent them is going for larger hooks.. can't comment - never caught a whiting :p *

* probably because I never catch anything :D

I'd agree with the comments in the tackle section - especially if you're going from shore. The rod that I'm missing is about 11'6-12'4 but light like a spinning rod, casts 3oz with a working range 2-3oz casting..

As Cainer has suggested - a carp rod is an option, and he's offered to loan me the one he has whilst out.. the more I beach/short fish I think that that sized rod would be great.

I have a 1-2oz.. which is awesome for boat.. but a slim, light 2-3oz rod would be awesome addition..
