Fitted my NH-D14 - Have some questions

I just got done installing said cooler on my stock 2500k and i now have a couple of questions. Before looking at the temps below keep in mind that my one and only front intake fan is not connected and both my side panels are off.

My first questions is do these temps look OK? I'm a little concerned about core #2 8c higher than core #1.

My second question is about the two Noctua fans. To my surprise they are only the 3 pin types and so my motherboard cannot control their speed. Even the stock Intel cooler is the 4pin PWM type. As a result both fans are running at full speed at all times and are not actually as quiet as i was expecting.

Is there anything i can do about this? I know the cooler comes with adapters to run the fans at lower speeds but i was expecting to not need them as i assume my motherboard would control their speed.

The fans you could replace with TY-140's as I think there PWM controllable.

Temps look fine, and I wouldn't worry too much about the hot core, the vast majority of sandy chips have this (mines on core01). My hot core can at times be as much as 11c higher at peak. If your uncomfortable with it you could try a re-seat, but not worth it IMO unless it gets a great deal hotter than the other cores.
 
Dont really want to buy some more fans TBH, the cooler itself was expensive enough as it is.

#2 - I was worried about clearance over the large ASrock heatsinks but there ended up being loads.

#4 - The ASrock mobo has two CPU fan headers but oddly the bundled tuning software will only alter the fan speed on CPU_Fan2.

I wouldn't worry about it my 1st core always runs hotter then the rest. I am looking at getting one of these myself out of interest would you know what was the motherboard temp when you took this screen shot?
 
only no-no is your last shot - unless its just the way the photo looks

never put any electrical device and rest it on the outside of an anti-static bag ...

the purpose of anti-static bags is to act as a conduit for static tothe outside of the bag...
 
Looks fine dont worry cpu core`s are not all the same,btw get 2 1850 gentletyhoons @12v you will like the results :)
 
First of all, to get a real indication of temperatures, put it under load using LinX or Prime. Idle temperatures don't say much.

The next thing is that if you want to reduce the fan speed, then using the L.N.A or ultra low noise voltage adapters.
 
I fitted low noised adapters (900rpm) and also fitted my 2 intake and 2 exhaust fans. Idle temps are now 3-4c higher across the cores.

yes, but is it less noisy? a few degrees hotter is worth it, if its quieter. ;)
 
It's definitely quieter but the stock fans in the CM690 II are kinda loud so running the Noctua fans on full whack shouldn't matter much.
