With my old TRUE black, there was a bit of movement when fitted, though as long as it's not loose or rattling about it will be fine. The later rev b bracket helped to cure this as it was much better than the older x type bracket.
It's fine as long at it's making good contact, and doesn't move up and down. A lot of Thermalright coolers tend to do that because of the centre acting as a pivot.
Actually, the opposite is 'apparently' true. In fact, before I saw this thread, I posted a new thread about the venomous x centre screw along with a youtube video where the guy installing one says less pressure makes it move less. Problem with that is, less pressure means slightly higher temps, I would have thought anyway. It still moves with less pressure, in fact I noticed no difference when he loosened the centre screw, seemed to move the same amount. Bad mounting design imo compared to their other older and new products.
The base is bowed by design - therefore it's highly likely it will rotate.
Cooler with flat bases don't move as the concaved IHS 'grips' it at the four corners.
where as the thermalright cooler just touch the center of the IHS.
Both options are not ideal - but most IHS on intel cpu's are concaved.
So thermalright took the more expensive bowed option.
Lap it / and your cpu and it will not move, and your knock 2-6c of load temps (but void warrenties).
