I have an X reg Focus LX which has a tape player, I'd like to fit a nice cheap single din CD player. However, the tape player is one of those crazy double din ford jobbies. Not sure what exactly I need to fit it into my dash? Also, do I have to use something in particular to unlock the old radio or will a paperclip do? I don't have the radio unlocking keys unfortunately :(

I assume I'll need some sort of mounting kit or bracket though? Also, any idea if the connections are universal?

You will need to buy the correct unlocking keys as they lock into place inside the player but you can get them off a well known auction site for like £2 delivered.

No need for removal keys.

Find yourself at least two thin screwdrivers. (or similar)
Insert a screwdriver into the top and bottom holes on the left hand side of the head unit and push left. (May take more than one attempt but you should feel the retaining clips pop).
Keeping the screwdrivers pushed start to pull the left side out of the dash.
Find yourself a bit of a card (or whatever you have to hand) fold it a few times and jam it behind the the side you have released to prevent it snapping back in.
Follow the same process for the right and side and out it should come!

To fit a new HU you'll need the fascia adaptor, and harness adapter. both readily available from halfrauds or online.

Once the old HU is out it should take you no more than 15 mins to fit.
