hey guys,

The door on the greenhouse fell off and smashed all of the glass, I will get the glass replaced but first I need to understand how the door actually works..

I'm having trouble re-fitting the door now, I got some of these ball bearings from a trusted website but then i don't understand how the door fits on this greenhouse.

no matter what I do, the door just doesn't stay on the top of the frame. I think I am missing some parts but not sure what parts these are?

anyone got any tips or advice? I looked on utube but wasn't successful

here is the greenhouse:

Is there a runner still attachde to the greehouse

My expectation is that the greenhouse has half the runner, and the door has the other half attached. Think of it like a drawer runner.
This is how they normally operate.
So in your case it looks like the join between the runner and the door has failed

The title gave me the wrong idea about this thread.

Was coming in to chastise OP for subjecting his neighbours to such a hideous choice of front door colour.

The title was causing me to twitch, I had to correct it the same as the content in the OP.

have you used this before?

What you need to see if the otherside of the top of the door, thats where the runner should be

Normally they feed in from the side of the bit thats attached to the greenhouse and you put a stop in to stop it sliding out

It was always faulty when I moved in, just never got around to fixing it

I plan to clean all of the greenhouse out and put nice plants in, but the doors needs fixing first.

what does the stop look like?

stop is usually just a lump of plastic or something similar

I figured you hadnt used as you would have probably known the main issue ;)

My suspicion is that the top 3 holes on the door are supposed to have the second half of the runner attached there, and you would simply slide it into the rail attached to the greehouse above the door gap.

I would have a good look around in there for something that looks like it would attach to the door to run along inside the channel.

Or it may be simpler and you could just get away with a couple of wheels like this. https://www.twowests.co.uk/greenhou...5kcLSJfyL2oaM2GfDg1VD-Y3PMwzYrx0aAkfzEALw_wcB

You would need to measure the channel attached to the greenhouse

There is definately nothing attached to the back of the door at the top?

Have a really good look round, see if you can find a small plate detailing manufacturer. They are all basically the same, but like anything a few versions.

The channel above the door looks like the bottom edge is missing (hard to see in pic), the 2 plastic wheels fitted to the top of the door should run in the channel with a stop end fitted at either side

The wheels do not sit on the top of the door channel

hi what does that look like to you in the recent pics?

check out the recent pictures there to see what is attached to the door.

I will look closely at the door again tonight to see if I can find any details or even better pictures.

To recap, the door actually fits nicely on the frame, but it comes away very easily like it can be pulled away from the GH with consummate ease.

I'm certain I need the following but I'm not so sure on the size:

- wheel bearings
- stop end to stop the door from sliding out all of the way of the left hand side.

I agree with mr rat, it looks like there should be some wheels behind the top of the door, and that the whole section slides into the bit thats attached to your greenhouse.

Need to see the back side of that top section of door, as thats where you would have expected the wheels to be.

Its a little odd, but maybe they got old and brittle and broke off, but if thats the case then it should be clear from the other side of the top of the door that the screws went into something thats no longer there.

If this is the case you should be able to buy some wheels, its just working out which size. They need to be right as the combination of the wheels holding the door at a certain height and the door running inside the runner attached to the greenhouse is what keeps the whole thing up there

Forgot, as far as stop ends.
One side is normally pretty well stopped from the factory. Ie there is often a piece of ally that does this, normally on the side where the door would be when open

The other can be nigh on anything, its only to stop you closing the door and going too far. Once you get the door on and working then thats an easy fix.

I will see if I can get pics of what the inside of the top of the door looks like from memory there is 1 very small wheel in there

yes I think i need more wheels too, but how do I work out the size of them? the ones i got already were just too big.

From memory there are a couple of sizes.
You will have some limited range that you could use before you will have to get more radical with the fix.

Basically the door hangs from those wheels in the "slot" on the bar going across above the doorway.
What you need is for the wheels to keep the top "lip" that will go inside the same area as the wheels so that the door cannot just fall straight out.

assuming its just wheels. The you will need to measure the channel in 2 places. The gap at the front, and the height just behind this.

Then, now this is tricky to explain.
The diamater of the wheel plus what remains of the top section of the door that sits above the top of the wheel. This combined amount needs to be between the two values you measured above.
I hope that makes sense, otherwise we will need to draw a picture and my paint skillz aint all that ;)

The manufacturer would really help. There is often a plate somewhere, just a small ally one, around the size of a 50p coin

thanks I might require your painting skills lol

I will look to see if I can see any manufacture plate on the weekend, that's probably my best bet

this door has been like this for 18 months now, the cats and the foxes love staying in my greenhouse
I just want to clear it all out, get nice top soil in there and plant some proper summer type plants but the door and one damage pane above is the problem atm. :(
