I need to fit a rain diverter to my new water butt. The instructions are nice and easy - cut out a 30mm depth section and fit. No worries, right? Except that 30mm is the gap for the bit that fits between the pipe ends but there are also 30-40mm that needs to be fed into the lower pipe. Everything I have read assumes that you can move the lower pipe section. However, in my case, the upper section runs all the way to the roof line and the bottom section is flush with the concrete drain below. There is no real flex in the pipe and I can't simply bend the pipe to give me the space needed.

Any ideas?

Is there a join in the down pipe you can seperate to get the slack needed? Alternatively undo the connections to the wall and pull the down pipe away from the wall to get slack at the bottom
