Fitting a second hard disk to a MBP

Looks good.

It does usually seem wasteful to have a large SSD as the one and only drive in a laptop just because you need somewhere to store all your bulk data.

It spins down regularly enough.

Saying that, I have swapped my system around. I've now put the SSD in to the OptiBay and the hard disk where it 'should' be.

Main reason is the 7200RPM Seagate drive I'm using vibrates a little, and I can feel it where it was on the right hand side. I can't feel it when it's in the hard disk bay.

In terms of battery life - I still had over 4 hours from it yesterday arvo which was a bit of a surprise. I'm guessing though cos I'd copied the stuff I was working on to the SSD, and the drive had spun down.

Even so, it's pretty impressive.

Hey all

Sorry to bump an old thread. But better to bump and existing one, than duplicate :)

Has anyone had experience installing the Optibay in the Unibody MBP's? I'm thinking of getting the bay and putting in two SSD's and set up a software Raid. Just wondering what experience users have with the install. They're also offering their case for the optical drive free which is cool, though only an option to ship from the states from what I found.

Cheers
