Im going to try water cooling in this case (scared!) and Im not wanting to do much cutting of metal. The rad is the MCR220 and it came with a PCI blanking plate cover with 2 holes.

The instuctions say to mount the rad vertically so that the outlet/inlets are at the top and to drill 2 holes just beneath the PSU. The PCI plate in the manual only has a small hole for the electrical wiring.

Would it be feasable to run the tubes from the top of the rad and down to the blanking plate and into the case?

thanks for looking.

I think thats what the pci backing plate is for, the instruction to cut holes is probably for thosewith the rad without the pci plate, which usually comes as part of a package with the rad box.

Dont think you can re-rout the tubing to go thru the PCI Bracket due to the radiator fittings being only the width of the radbox away from back of case and barbs facing inwards.
Also the tubes will be too wide to fit thru pci slot.

Is this what you have?

you can mount the double and triple rads as well as the single.

mine is the second one. Its a bit confusing, theyve certainly sent me the correct pci plate but without the passthrough metal tubes. I suppose it would be OK just to squeeze the tubes slightly and just place them inside the holes.

One thing confusing me, does it matter whether the rad is positioned so that the barbs are at the top or at the bottom?

thanks for the help.

do you have 3/8" or 1/2" ID tubing? The swiftech pci plate fits 3/8 ID that has a 1/2" OD, but not 1/2" ID tubing, (with the obviously larger outside diamater).

I don't believe it matters which way around the radiator is mounted.

As I have to pinch the tube slightly to get it into the hole I must have 1/2" tubing, Does it harm the system if the tubes are slightly pinched at that point? Alternatively would 3/8" tubing fit the rad box?

it does pinch quite a bit...Ive decided to use a dremel and cut some of the metal away in the perforated area in the rear bottom right of the case.

That way I can use a grommet which I couldnt use if squeezed through the pci plate.
