Hey guys

I want to fit an amp and sub to my 2001 WRX.

I need to feed a power cable to the battery from the amp in the boot. However to save me pulling the whole dash out, can you tell me if there is an easy entry point from the dash to the engine bay to feed the cable?

Also i'm looking to get some better front door speakers, what to the WRX owners here recommend?

there is a gromet just to the left of the steering rack, it comes out in the upper right hand corner of the passenger foot well. that's where i fed mine from, or take a 12v feed from one of your fuses you dont use, rear windscreen wiper? I forget which is a common feed choice.

speaker wise I used focal's but slightly cheaper options were the infinity reference components, plenty of room in the door for the crossovers :)

Gotta love the OcUK forums. Answers within 10mins.

Still no replies on scoobynet or SIDC :)

Got a link to the infinitys?

I know you have to be careful with the front speakers as there's not much depth there so you either need really shallow speakers or some spacers. I think the problem is clearing the window, but my mind's a little hazy.

oh and buy tonnes of dynamat, scoobs certainly aren't renowned for their soundproofing :p

Definitely, my fronts cause some rattling when hitting some of the bassier notes, I'd also like ot change the fronts and get something in there to help the rattles out.

One of the biggest things I'm missing from Clio ownership is having a really good helpful user forum.

I know that Scoobynet is pretty big etc, but I find it pretty naff for finding stuff out.

Always just seems to be people who have blown their engines wanting advice, or people wanting to know how big a turbo they can fit.

Some of the more mundane stuff that you ask about just goes totally unanswered like people can't be bothered.

Must say I've not tried SIDC yet so might have to.

Can't see why you're run it from the gromet by the steering rack? Much much easier to run it to the gromet to the passenger side of the intercooler.
Comes out behind the glove box, so you can either take that out or feel for it.
Then run the cabling from the passenger side down to the boot through the sides, remove the sill plates to gain access, and also consider removing the bottom part of the rear seat (2bolts) to pass the cable into the boot easier.

Speakers wise, either shallow speakers or spacers required. Personally I'd say go with spacers.

Pass it down the left hand side of the car, just to the right of the battery there is a hole which gives access to the wheel arch/wing panel, I fed my cable through there and into a grommet just to the left of the footwell. You need to unclip the arch lining to feed the cable through the wing and into the grommet. Most of the panels around the door will unclip and you can just hide the cables there.

I'm gunna rewire it tonight via the passenger side.
Shame I think I have torn the wiring in my phono cable :(

Phono cables are fine, twas an earthing cable issue :)

Right, after fitting the 12v from the battery and feeding it through the hole into the drivers footwell I didn't feel comfortable with it being lined also along behind the intercooler due to the heat and possibility of melting the cabling. (Plus feeding the wire across the engine bay limits the amount of cable into the boot and the tighness keeps pulling the 12v from the amp port). So I have pulled out the 12v cable and tried to feed it through the "right side of the engine" so it falls behind the air con unit behind the glove box, thus stopping the risk of melt-down.

However I cannot manage to feed the cable from the engine bay into the passenger footwell. The only "bung" I can see was over this hole - however I have fed the cable into that hole and it seems to be a enclosed area between the bulk head of the engine bay and the hole. Am I feeding it into the right area?

See pics (sorry it was getting dark and iphone camera isnt the best)

You need to go lower down. And mine have been in place for 2 years, the cables are fine there. Or do as Gurdas has said, and run it into the arch lining and then into the car.

Lower down as in I'm using the wrong hole in the engine bay, or I need to push the cable into that hole and try to feed it downwards?

1. Take 1 Scooby

2. Feed power cable through hole near battery

3. Unclip arch lining

4. Pull lining down and insert into grommet hole

5. Feed through and pull from underneath to the left of the glove box and run through the side.

6. Remove side sills and rear seats and feed through
