Fitting an Aquacomputer 7970 block...

Evening all,

Just got my B Grade Aquacomputer 7970 waterblock, I'm just trying to figure out what exactly I'm missing, the instructions aren't great and neither is the video.

What I have is the block and a bag of screws, so the first thing I need to know is what thickness thermal pads are required?

The second thing is, at no point does it mention to use any form of nylon washer? Every EK block I've ever fitted has nylon washers for insulation, are they required?

On my 480 block IIRC the pads were 1.0mm, and I can't remember having any washers at all?

There are no washers, I would email Aquacompter to find out details for the thermal pads.

Just watched the video and deffo no washers, same as my 480 block, I think the standoffs and screws are small enough to stay on the isolated circle for each hole

Could email them to confirm pad sizes though? They were quick at replying to my emails

It has to be either 0.5mm or 1mm as those are the only two sizes Aquacomputer resell, I've got in touch with their CS too to see if they can help

Edit: Strange about the no washers, but I trust them

Doesn't matter about the cosmetics of having washers, its going to have backplates on anyhow

The block seems fine but I'll open it up at the weekend for further inspection. Just one at the moment I'll have to order a retail unit for the second
