Afternoon chaps.

I'm looking at fitting an intercooler to my 205 turbo diesel (1800cc) because it doesn't have one, plus it gives me something to do. And at some point i'm going to have the boost raised to give it a bit more go.

I've found a few 306 DT i/c's on eBay...would any other i/c fit from a different car, i.e. a larger one. :p

Can anyone tell me how to do it and what i'll need?

Thanks. :)

It'll be sitting on top of the engine most likely mate. :)

Edit: Rover also use the pug dt engine but i'm sure they fitted a small i/c unlike pug...

Actually, that may be a good idea...the engine in the 205 is tilted towards the bulkhead unlike the 306 DT from memory.

if I was you, id get it fitted on the front if you can, my old 306 D Turbo had terrible issues when it was hot, if after 'spirited driving' you went to put your foot down, sometimes it just wouldnt pull properly, the heat was absolutely immense under the bonnet.

If you want to mod the engine for more power, id organise isolating part of the engine bay with a decent cold air feed for an induction kit, a front mount intercooler, if you feeling really flush maybe get a larger bore exhaust setup, but then take it somewhere (Dr Derv) and get him to tune boost and fuel.

Should get pretty tidy results from that, and it should have quite a good impact considering the weight of the car :)

you would have to look for an old mk2 rover for the pug engine and im not sure if they had the intercooler.
most rovers use the rover L series engine in intercooled and none intercooled versions

I would get an intercooler from a 2WD Sierra Cosworth. You can get one for £25 and it will be perfect for what you want from it when fitted at the front. Plus as it's a simple one pass design the tubing should not be a nightmare.
