Fitting motherboard with Q-shield

Hi

Have just bought a new Asus P7P55D-E that comes with the Q-shield I/O shield plate - which appears to have 2mm thick foam on the motherboard side. I have installed the plate to the case without a lot of hassle, but I am having a problem aligning the motherboard with the stand offs.

The right side of the motherboard (looking at the case from behind) is not a problem to align, but because of the thickness of the I/O plate (I think) I am having problems aligning the left side of the motherboard. It appears to be 3-4mm out which I can resolve by applying a reasonable amount of pressure to a corner of the motherboard.

Is this normal ? and is it safe to fix the motherboard to the case having had to use that tension in order to align it against the stand offs.

Also the keyboard PS/2 socket has a metal tab surrounding the socket. Can this be removed ? I understand it is probably for grounding, but if the I/O shield has metallic properties (presumably for this purpose) is it needed ?

Thank you

Not sure about the rest but, it sounds like the I/O plate isnt pushed into the case enough they often require a fair about of force to push in

Hiya

Thanks for your reply. I took the I/O shield out a number of times to make sure that it was indeed fully pushed in, and it was.

I've since fitted the motherboard, but had to apply pressure to shift the motherboard 2mm so that the screws were flush. Just hope it's ok.

yeh i normally push the board into the sheild till it lines up. With all that foam there I expect that from many asus mainboards now.
