This may sound like a silly question, but just double checking, i'm replacing my dual core with a quad, and have a cooler Arctic 7 i think fitted on top, can i just fit the new chip, clean the old sticky paste or whatever it was off the cooler with a damp cloth and then stick back on top of the new chip no cooling issues?

I'm going to OC the new chip so want to make sure the paste stuck on the back of it from the chip factory, is not going to interact badly with the new paste and kill my cooling!

As above. Be aware though that a 'damp cloth' isn't what you need for cleaning off thermal compound. ;) Isopropyl alcohol or similar is the order of the day, along with a lint-free cloth (eg surgical swab).
