Aquired some lowering springs and uprated shocks for my car - wanted to have a go fitting them myself when they arrive (It'll also give me a chance to check the drop links and bearings as suggested in a diff thread).

Anyone recommened some cheap (but reliable - dont want to kill myself) spring compressors? Bear in mind I will probably never use them again...

Been looking on eBay and they seem to be quite cheap, but is that too cheap?

Anything else I need to do this job? Any other info?

Thanks.

Draper and laser do standard spring compressors, most places sell them for about £20ish. They are pretty strong and not the cheapest around. Ive used them many times without problem, just take care while doing it.

Do the rears first, they are normally the shocks that have the more rusted bolts and you end up braking them and having to find an elaborate way to remove the shock :)

I'll have a look at some places for those makes, anywhere online you know of that does them?

As for the rear, I was going to start there anyway as I have a torsion bar to play with...which should be interesting... :o that a good idea?

Take it to a garage and save yourself a whole weekend of messing around with the torsion bar!! ;)
