Fitting tile trims and installing mosaics

Hi,
Not much of a DIY'er but trying to do a few things myself. I have bought different style mosaics to tile a splash back above three sinks. One set are staggered, so the panels slot together, which is probably a mistake as I'll need to saw and fit little tiny tiles to make the area square. I have also bought metal trims that come in a long length. I've watched a few videos, realised I need a hacksaw with HSS blades and possible a mitre box, but not saw any demo's of fitting trims around a splash back.

Question is, is it easier to cut and install the metal trim first and then fit the tile panels inside the fitted trims? That way I can take my time getting the trims the right length. If done afterwards I assume they have to be fitted before the glue dries. Or is it easier to do afterwards but aware of the time ticking away.

Another thought I have is to cut the tile panels to the size I need and place on a flat surface and then cut the trim pieces and place around, then once looks fine on my test bench (made up process) I then install the tiles first and then trims and should all nicely fit together.

Any advice on doing the job as easy and painless as possible much appreciated :)

I fit mine afterwards its easier IMO,remember to leave a gap in the adhesive where the tiles trim goes so it let's you fit it if the adhesive goes off

Then you can paste some either in the gap or on the tile trim and push it behind the tile
