Ok so this is my first build so please forgive any what may seem to you as being silly questions.

But my main one is how do i know the case i buy will hold all of my components?

I was looking at this Antec : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-161-AN

Looks as though it will do the job fine.
And here is a list of my components :
Intel Core i7 2.93GHz
Intel P55 motherboard
EVGA GeForce GTX 460
OCZ Gold 4GB
500GB HDD
Corsair TX 750w

Obviously things like processor and RAM sit on/in the MB but how do i know the motherboard will fit? What if it is too small/big?

Cheers.

Motherboards come in a range of sizes, and so do cases. Full tower cases support all motherboard sizes, and mid towers like that Antec will fit all motherboards except E-ATX which are very expensive and mainly used for servers. Your motherboard is standard ATX size.

So yes it will fit. :)

Ok well just when buying ur case just make sure it fits atx and ur fine. Btw if you haven't bought the components yet don't buy those and purchase urself a new sandy bridge system as it will cost about the same but will be twice as powerful and half the power consumption.

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz £189.98
Asus P8P67 Intel P67 £122.99

you might also want to change the harddrive to a new 1tb one pertically this one as its rated as the fast hard drive atm (are exceptions but best bang per buck)

Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB £44.99

Using those components instead of ur p55 system would be a better buy as this system is the replacement for ur system yet is still selling at the same price and there will never be anymore upgrades to ur p55 system sadly.

But just thought i would let u know as this stuff is brand new and its completely kicking arse (beats my i7 x58 system easy (even beats the 6core old 1000 quid chip :P)). So if u haven't bought yet ull be delighted as u can get more speed for the same price.

Other than that all the other parts are fine got a 460gtx myself (mind u be prepared that the 560GTX should be out any day now and that will yet again be priced at the same as the old 460 (even though its only 6months old but hey :P).

i have already bought them all and this computer will play all the games i need it to at top notch graphics.

I worked to my budget and got what i needed, there is always room for improvement in the future.

Yea np you still have a great machine there built one of them myself so i know you wont have problems for a long while.
