Hi guys my friend has got a problem with his new HDTV! He has a dead pixel on the left hand side and i know not a lot can be done, but a while ago i remember seeing a little proggy you can download that flashes the screen all different colours and some times "unsticks" the pixel! Any one know where i can get it?

Thanks :)

Apply mustard to the area, that should do it.

Seriously though, gently tapping it with a cotton-bud (stops greasy fingerprints) may help. It's worked on a few monitors before.

Is it dead (black) or stuck (colour). I have a stuck red pixel on my TV and no matter how much rubbing or flashing I have done, it is still stuck!

Most manufacturers have a minimum number of dead/stuck pixels before they meet warranty requirements. If that is what you even meant. Really constructive post.

EDIT: You've edited.

Surely any dead pixels means that the product is faulty and that warrants a repair/replacement?

I think the program your thinking of is called "dead pixel buddy". That flashes all sorts of colours. I tried it on my monitor ages ago to get rid of a stuck red one but it didnt work.

You CANT fix Dead Pixels, only Stuck Pixel.

P.S the 1st main part of APP that changes the Colours on Screen (you can vary speed) is not to fix it, its there to find Stuck Pixels.

You use the 2nd part of the APP to try unstick them.

I've had a few screens with dead pixels mysteriously repair themselves over time. Not sure how that happened!

Ive tried everything on my benQ, cant unstick mine. Its turquoise.

Any dead/stuck pixels are 'allowed' on a tv/monitor and are not returnable unless it exceeds the maximum allowed.

If only it were that simple. That's how it should work (legally the sale of goods act states products should be 'free from small blemishes and defects') but it doesn't.
