Hi Guys,

I'm hoping somebody can suggest some solutions for this, i have an AC Freezer pro 7 which in my frustration on reseating, i managed to break off 2 of the white pins which hold it in on the motherboard, unfortunately 1 on each of the two front corners (bottom of this picture) hence it being wonky.

Im sure i cant get something like this sorted under warranty (?) and £20+ to buy another seems madness over 2 small pieces of plastic.

So, anyone have any ideas on how i can hold it in place minus the white bits? or am i stuffed?

Many thanks :)

You could probably swap the broken pins for some off a stock cooler, or just stick a couple of bolts through (would probably be best to do all 4 pins if you go down this route though). :)

I'd go for the latter 'cos push pins are a complete pain in the arse (as I'm sure you're aware :p).

Funnily enough i've put the stock cooler back on which has the same design pin-wise and it fits in like a bloody dream, the AC one was a pain though as they bend if you miss the hole and you need the fingers of a child to put them back in place without pulling it out. (oo-er)

I notice here that their of similiar size but im guessing it won't be that easy to swap them?

Also how do you mean stick a couple of bolts through?

cheers :p

I know exactly what you mean - I had to fit one in a MicroATX case a while ago - Took forever and put a nice curve on the motherboard... :/

I think they pretty much just pull apart. I'm sure Google will give some answers. :)

As for the bolts, just stick something small through and pop a washer and nut on it. I'm pretty sure I saw a thread about it a while ago, give me a minute and I'll try to dig it up...

That should answer everything.

You should be able to get away without the backplate as the AC7's not a particularly big/heavy cooler.

Bugger me i didnt know that even existed!

After much googling it appears it should be fine on a P5Q/AC7 :)

Muchos graciás, just saved me £20 :D

gazozbourne - if you have not sorted it yet, I have an arctic freezer pro 7 that I no longer use, and as I managed to break the fan mount when adapting it I doubt it is worth selling, so you are welcome to it for free though you will have to wait a week as I am in Spain, though my wife will be going back to the UK next friday...
Only problem is that I will need to give you an email address via the forum , so will wait to see if you want it and if anyone replies to see if leaving my address is considered a breach of any rules - OK ?

Damn, wish this thread had come up a few days ago. I did the exact same thing to my AC7 - bent the little white bits on two of the legs after 45 minutes of trying to get it back in. It had gone in perfectly before, as did the stock cooler that I ended up putting in instead.

Spent £30 on an AC Extreme cooler job as a replacement. It's sodding massive and doesn't cool as well.
