Fixed a dent, how to repair the paint "split"?

Had a dent in the edge of my driver's door where it got blown open months ago in the high winds we have. Whilst I've recovered the dent through judicious use of a piece of soft pine, a cloth, and a hammer, I'm left with a split/ridge where the paint surface has been broken.

Cosmetically I couldn't care less, but I realise that I might want to do something to it in order to protect the metalwork underneath, especially before winter comes and the gritters are out again.

Any suggestions/experiences? The most I've done in the past is touching up stone chips, and I know that my skills will leave a blindingly obvious repair job!!

Cheers.

If that's primer and not metal that's in the photo is probably just leave it tbh. To do a proper job you'd want to strip back quite an area then re primer and paint, blending as best you could around it.

Touch up will take your eye off it but all you'll really do is cover up the white /grey and unless you've got access to a da its quite difficult to get it looking decent

Ok, so if I have a careful look in decent light to see whether or not it's just topcoat/lacquer damage, then leave it be if I can see primer?

Really don't want to invest the effort in a proper job, but equally want to take whatever steps I need to do to ensure the door doesn't rust.

Either leave it be or put a thin layer of touch up paint on it with a toothpick or paperclip and clear off the excess where it isn't needed - or something like Dr colourchip ( can't remember if that's the UK or american version).
