This forum will pull this apart more than I could so I thought it would be a good place to post it.

Would you pay upfront for 5 years servicing?

£550 for a petrol car...

Whats covered...

Every part of our scheduled servicing, from cost of materials, to labour and VAT. No surprises, no hidden extra’s, just another piece of Honda Happiness

Whats not...

Any extra maintenance work or adjustments that aren’t part of your service schedule, unless covered by Honda’s 3 year / 90,000 warranty.

The service interval for the first 3 years will probably be less than 12 months due to the mileage my wife will do and if the car requires additional services in the year it covers that.

Unless we write the car off we would keep it for 6 years.

Anyone know any reason why these deals are not worth it.

What would you expect to pay for 3 years servicing if you went to Honda.

If you know you're keeping the car, and you're saving over paying for each individual service, it seems like a no brainer.

£550 seems reasonable to me, a standard oil service is about £100 isn't it? So a few of those, plus a cambelt service etc, I think it would make sense?

Just add up the cost of all the services needed in 5 year, which ever is lower then do that!

Of course it means you have to go main dealer

One of the Honda garage near me said that if you are keeping it for less than 3 years it isn't worth it. Servicing is every 12,500 miles or 12 months.

Yeah they said the servicing if you are doing a low mileage would mean a more regular oil change which the computer would recognise and your service intervals would be less than 12000 miles or a year. This would be covered.

So far it seems good value for money as the average service on the car is £150 according to what car. I was just checking to see if anyone had any knowledge as to why this isn't a good deal rather than find out after I'd spent the money :)

As I say we would keep it for 6 years, the mrs for 3 then passed onto me for 3.

Some people are still obsessed with dealer service historys, so it will help retain value of your car. Even though the services are carried out usually quite badly by the apprentices from what I've heard (I know a few lads who work in a honda garage, I wouldn't let them near my car).

I'd either do all services myself or go to a mechanic who you know does good work. Cheaper and you know that it has been done properly. Only trouble is depreciation.

If its a brand new car and it goes wrong you don't have much of a leg to stand on if you have done the servicing yourself.

Small service for my Accord is around 250, the larger, every other year is around 350 so for 550 for 5 years I'd be biting their hand off :0

So a few of those, plus a cambelt service etc, I think it would make sense?
It doesn't cover the cost of the cambelt, look at the page, it shows what components are covered.

Engine oil, oil filter, sump washer, air filter, pollen filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, anti-freeze, brake fluid.

Still seems reasonable enough to me.
