I have this old IDE usb adaptor that I use regularly and one of the wires on the molex is starting to split so that sometimes the hard drive turn itself off as it's not making contact.
depends on what you would call easy.you would need a solder iron and solder to reconnect it. maybe a picture could help us understand the problem? i think the best thing to do is to replace it.
