Hi Guys,

Just a quick query. I,ve recently bent a few pins on a AMD 7750BE not a big loss as it's only £50 but does anyone have any tips on getting the pins back in line.

Hi there,

You should use a credit card or something similar to bend them back into place, just be really careful not to snap them off!!!

I snapped 3 pins off my old 4200X2 ages ago, and it didn't make a blind bit of difference to the CPU!!!

Someone told me that some of those pins are just grounds, so that is why it probably didn't affect the CPU's performance... but like I said, a credit card in between the pins should allow you to bend them back into place...

This is like a right of passage!
Just be careful not to bend anymore in the process! Credit card is the best tool for the job.

Do as DavyBoy/JB suggests – but don't feel you have to get them perfectly straight - you only need them just straight enough to fit into the slot and then let the fixing do the rest for you.

+1, i've had to do this for a mate and worked out really well and no bent pins but all depends how far the pins have been bent

Thanks for all the help guys i used the credit card whcih helped with the pins but there where a few pins actually touching so after a bit of googeling i found an idea for using dental floss to hook over the pin individually and pull it in place after a couple of stress tests i can confirm the CPU is running again.

Thanks guys :):)

For pins that seem bent beyond repair I normally use drawing pins, but the ones with the plastic cap rather than a flat topped one.

As mentioned before just get them so they are straight enough to go back in the board even with a kink they will go in and sort themselfs out from there saves breaking them.
