Fixing broken LCD + cracked Screen Nikon D80

Ok so i went to a Festival and woke up one morning...not really remembering what happened the night before, so I checked the Camera and the LCD was broken and the LCD plastic cover was cracked...whoppsy.

First time I took a Camera apart and never seen the inside off one before

Photos taken by Iphone 4....obviously camera is out of action

Time to Fix it

LCD Screen £8

LCD Plastic cover £22.....Figure that out.

OK so let's take it apart

after 4 little screws the back comes undone

after 9 more screws the LCD screen came out...I disconnected it.

The Plastic screen is glued down which I took off and you can see the crack a little better

I scraped all the glue residue on the body with a flat head screw driver

New vs old LCD....which one is which?

Look how broken the LCD screen is

Oh sorry that's just the reflection of my Iphone hahahaha!

So I was about to put it all back together when I realised the Plastic Screen does not fit....THEY SEND ME ONE FOR A NIKON D40...FFS

I have E-mailed them on Ebay and see what the outcome is

Put it all back together for now with cracked Plastic screen.

AND IT WORKS

£200 for the body

ah cool. Its a good lesson to have a go on these things. If I damaged my 5d i would definately send it in for repair. If I had my 350D still then I would have a go

i think you could get a cheap D40 from somewhere.

I am clumsy...I break a lot of things
