Fixing My Old Desktop

Hi,

After sorting out several of friends and family's computers it's time to sort my old desktop up for some casual use before I get a new one sometime next year (I'll keep the old one for XP era gaming though).

What I've got:

Random 360W PSU I got off my father after mine died.
Asus A8V Deluxe Motherboard
AMD 64 3500+ Processor
Corsairs PC3200 RAM, one of the nice expensive low-latency ones. Can't remember exact name.
Some hard drives, a Audigy 2ZS soundcard.

I had a Geforce 6800GT in it, unfortunately it died on me so I've put in an old Geforce ti 4200 in it at the moment.

Now, I need at least a wireless card to go in this (the old one died on me also... :/ ). Any recommendations? Preferably something nice that I can put over into my next build really.

I also wonder, does anyone have any idea if there are any nice AGP graphics cards that are worth upgrading to for this setup (probably buying second hand), obviously keeping in mind the rather aged processor? Perhaps there is a processor worthy of upgrading to keeping the motherboard? I'm after really small cheap upgrades basically that'll make this a decent rig for XP era gaming.

And third but not last, I've got some random generic PC3200 ram, 1gb. If I put it in the two remaining RAM slots the PC won't boot. Anyone know a fix for this, or at least an explanation why this is so I learn something new out of it? :P

If you want to upgrade the CPU, here is a list of compatible processors for you

:)

I don't know enough about AGP cards to advise you sorry :(

Wireless G PCI cards can still be found from as little as £12 or below, just check compatibility with XP first. I purchased one for a Family members ancient machine a few months ago but forum rules mean I can't tell you the location without a suspension :(

Do the generic Ram run when fitted to the slots that the known good RAM is in? Worth a try first.
