My Dad's Rotel RA-01 amp managed to blow the power supply fuses over a year a go and back then he took it into a repair shop but the guy said he was going to charge £50 to do anything other than change the fuses (which blew again).
So he passed it over to me to take a look (he now has a new amplifier). I have replaced the fuses again, but this time used slow blow versions. I have also given it a full clean to get rid of all the flux.
Unfortunately it still has no life in it. I am connecting it using the 100W light bulb technique, meaning I don't go through a dozen fuses just switching it on! Every time I switch the power on the bulb glows bright, meaning something must still be wrong!
There is no obvious signs of damage or shorts between components and it is all in very good condition.
So what is the next thing I should look for or test?
