OK, bit of a tricky one here.
The house I have bought has a basement conversion which has been fully tanked and was used as office space..
We have changed this to a bedroom, decorated it all and I need to hang 2 mirrors roughly 4ft long and 1ft wide.
Obviously the walls are plasterboard, but there is a additional problem.
The previous owner told me that at the last minute, building control increased the required amount of insulation required, and instead of using double batons or something similar, the batons were wedged out from the wall to accomodate the extra width - don't ask me why, I just don't know..
He advised if I wanted to fix anything to the walls, not to rely on finding the batons and screwing through them for a fixing as he didn't think they would hold..

I could stick the mirrors onto the wall, but would prefer to fix them if I can

Are there any good plasterboard fixing systems for a job like this?
Im not used to fixing anything into plasterboard, I have always been lucky enough to have solid walls wherever I have lived before..

I know from my previous 'buying a drill thread' that there are some pretty knowledgeable people on here, so thought Id ask for your advice..

@ work right now, but will check back when I can..

Same sort of thing as these then?

I will get the fixing tool as well, what is the standard plasterboard thickness as Im not sure what length to get?

Thanks for all the help on this guys - appreciated..

plasterboard is usually 9.5mm or 12.5mm with skim it';s usually between 14-16 mm thick i've been using 50mm wall anchors for the jobs around the house and they seem perfectly sufficient. i mean i have a 7 month old crawling around and perfectly happy for the front room mirror weighing 13kg's to be held by just one of them

Nice one, that will do me then, I will get the 52mm ones - thanks everyone..

edit

Do I need a fixing tool? The instructions say either a fixing tool or a screwdriver?
